location
oh, and another thing - i'm still not too sure about the location i picked for the book. I figured I'd use Potsdam because when I was talking to my Mom about writing the book, we were talking about how almost all vampire books take place in the south. Like Anne Rice usually is in New Orleans, and True Blood is in Louissianna. The only one that didn't was Twilight. So right now it's in Potsdam since I know the area well, but it will most likely change later on in the story. Any suggestions?

Potsdam actually sounds great. We have a pretty rich and dynamic history - including the fact that a few of the colleges acted as part of the Underground Railroad.
ReplyDeleteThere's also a pretty big Wicca movement up here- some of the big houses used to house covens, believe it or not.

The above link has a variety of hauntings.

This link is a link to the Clarkson Integrator, who covered the Sissonville Manor haunting. Maybe some of this can help- it's at least a look into some of the area's supernatural background.
Pretty firm believer in writing about a place you actually know about, myself. Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris both live in Louisiana, which is why they write about it.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that Stephenie Meyer only wrote about Forks because it rains there all the time and she needed a cloudy place for her vampires.
